Life Insurance Protects The Futures of the Ones You Love

Over the past few years, I have had the honor to participate as a judge for the Manulife Life Lessons Scholarship Program.  The judging for the 2025 scholarships wrapped up today. It takes incredible bravery and determination to pursue post-secondary education in the face of adversity – especially for these students impacted by the loss of a parent or guardian with little to no life insurance coverage.  Winners of these scholarships receive a $10,000 scholarship to help them with the cost of their post-secondary education.

It is always heartbreaking to read and watch the applicants’ stories. Their stories are all different, yet similar.  All these students had lost a parent or guardian, of whom, the majority did not have life insurance. They all described their individual struggles with not just the emotional stress of losing their parent, but the personal and financial obstacles that they had to face and overcome to survive and pursue their goals and dreams.

If you have people who depend upon you financially, you need adequate life insurance to protect them and their futures if something were to happen to you. Life insurance is not about you; it is about them, protecting them from financial hardship after you are gone. How is the loss of your income going to affect your loved ones? How will they manage their daily expenses? Will they be able to maintain their current lifestyle? Will they be able to save for the future; for school or retirement?  A licensed insurance advisor can help you find the best solutions that will fit your situation and meet the needs of you and your family. It is worth taking the time to protect the ones you love. Losing a loved one is hard enough without adding the financial stress.
